The Challenge

The owner of this property required us to design a porch that not only would comply with the new regulations for structures like these, but also with a Porch system that would be best utilized by converting its landings into potential leisure areas to place chairs and tables during the summer to enjoy the shadow of the large, pleasant tree located next to it.

The design should also include a material specification that would minimize maintenance and that would easily withstand the harsh Chicago winter season.

By specifying steel for the main framing members, treated wood for the threads and the popular composite manufactured decking the design ensured that the porch life would be extended for the years to come.
